The 2012 success story that was the London Super Comic Convention has announced an exclusive name to us today, Peter David.

Peter Allen David is a well known American writer of comic books, novels, television, movies and video games.   Perhaps more notable to comic book fans, his work includes an award-winning 12-year run on The Incredible Hulk, as well as runs on Aquaman, Young Justice, Supergirl, and Fallen Angel.

To add to his attraction, his contribution to the Star Trek universe includes both comic books and novels, such as Imzadi, and the co-creation of the New Frontier series.  Amongst his other novels include film adaptations, media tie-ins, and original works, such as the Apropos of Nothing and Knight Life series along with his television work such as Babylon 5, Young Justice, Ben 10: Alien Force and Space Cases, the latter of which David co-created.

David often jokingly describes his occupation as “Writer of Stuff”, and is noted for his prolific writing, characterized by its mingling of real world issues with humour and references to popular culture, as well as elements of meta-fiction and self-reference.

David has earned multiple awards for his work, including a 1992 Eisner Award, a 1993 Wizard Fan Award, a 1996 Haxtur Award, a 2007 Julie Award and 2011 GLAAD Media Award.

More guest names to follow tomorrow.

More about the London Super Comic Convention

The first appearance of the event, famous for the huge guest appearance of Stan Lee in 2012, was widely celebrated by the comic community as a success.  Choosing to focus on the expanded world of comicdom, rather than the broader popular culture mix of other conventions, helped the organisers draw in an incredible crowd at the Excel Centre.  Boasting the likes of Mike Deodata Jr, George Perez, Bill Sienkiewicz, Bob Layton and Howard Chaykin, amongst many other international guests, added to the appeal and made the convention the stand out event in the first half of 2012 and certainly one of the top runners for convention of the year.  Stay tuned to Comic Conventions for more news on the 2013 convention.
