After some weeks of anticipation, it has finally been revealed that 2017 will not only see a change of date for the London Super Comic Con, but also a change of venue. This time the choice is the Business Design Centre in Islington, which previously hosted the short-lived Kapow festival.
The new dates are quite different however and now see the convention across three days instead of the two and in particular the bank holiday weekend of the 25th to the 27th August. For some, the move will be contentious as the date has become a staple in many comic fans diary however there will be benefits in moving it. One new announcement at this early stage is a room entirely dedicated to its Artist Alley, bringing across a touch of America conventions to the shores of Blighty. Some have speculated that this also opens the doors for more media-related guests, a restriction at the current venue due to also hosting the MCM conventions. Others have noted the proximity to two other very comic specific events, NICE and ICE.
Whatever the changes, let’s hope we can look forward to a big name announcement or two in the coming weeks.
